Vote Looms Over Future Of Metered Parking Spaces

More business owners are speaking out against the possible loss of metered parking spaces in front of their properties.

Mount Lebanon council will soon vote whether to remove six metered spaces along West Liberty Avenue between Peermont Avenue and 3273 West Liberty Avenue.

The businesses in the affected area are a part of Dormont, while the road is part of Mount Lebanon.

  1. The problem, longstanding, is apparently that parked cars in those 5 or 6 spaces create a *choke point* in what is supposed to be 2-lane traffic flow, particularly during weekday rush hours.

    I believe the Mt. Lebanon Commission will possibly consider no parking in those spaces during rush hours on a trial basis to see if the traffic and safety problems are eliminated or significantly reduced. If not, the next step would be removal. The Chief of Police seemed OK with this approach during a recent public discussion session.
