Whomever in our school system we pay to fill out paperwork for these worthless awards whould be reassigned to write grant proposals for the district. We could use the money more than the awards.

Just wondering why this is considered "worthless." A Blue Ribbon Award is a pat on the back that the hard working teachers, staff, parents and students deserve. It is a great morale booster.

do some research and check out the differences in achievement between the elementary schools. The time spent on applying for awards for individual schools should be devoted to raising the test scores (student comprehension) of the elementary schools that are seriously lagging! Isn't that what we want from our school district?
