Two members of the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department -- platoon chief Chris Buttlar, 38, and company officer Loren Hughes, 35 -- set off for Atlanta last night, where they will be trained before heading to disaster zones with 2,000 firefighters mobilized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"There's been an awful lot of discussion in the media about the slowness of our government's response," said Mt. Lebanon Fire Chief Stephen Darcangelo. "But we were very impressed with how rapidly they managed to make this happen. I sent in the applications, and 12 hours later we received notification from FEMA."You can read the whole article here.
