Lebo: State to Audit Schools Project?

The P-G reports from the most recent school board meeting:
The state auditor general's office has asked for documentation on the recent renovation of seven elementary schools in the Mt. Lebanon School District, a project that recently was completed at a cost of about $52.7 million.

District Finance Director Jan Klein reported at last night's board meeting that a representative of state Auditor General Jack Wagner requested copies of the project's original budget and revised budget, copies of change orders and monthly reports from general contractor Turner Construction to the school board.

In addition, the auditor general requested the sources and uses of funds for the project.

"District Finance Director Jan Klein reported that a representative of state Auditor General Jack Wagner requested copies of the (elementary schools renovation) project's original budget and revised budget, copies of change orders and monthly reports from the general contractor...", yet when questioned about this school board president Joe Rodella stated that he, and the board, did not know what Mr. Wagners's office was investigating! The fact that this information had been requested was not disclosed to the public until school board director Mark Hart specifically asked if "someone" was already looking into this situation. This is another example of the "old board members" withholding information from the community. The first visit by a representative of the Auditor Generals office was over two months ago! Why wern't we told about this?
