My husband and I and another couple went there last night finally after trying to go the past few Saturdays (book your reservation early in the week). It was wonderful! Beautiful, crisp, clean interior, great service (thanks Nora), the food was great (and hot), the bathrooms were clean and everyone was very friendly. Each of us had something different to eat. By far, the best meal was the seared sea scallops with black pepper linguini. There is a hint of apple butter in the sauce and it is to die for. I have never tasted such great flavor. It is BYOB, so don't forget wine. I had read in an earlier review in the Post Gazette that the major complaint was the noise level. Jeff has taken care of that and added acoustic panels on the ceiling. The noise level was fine last night even with a packed house. This place is a great addition to Mt. Lebanon and I am certain it will do well. Plus it is great to support a local guy living his dream. And it doesn't hurt that he is a Lebo grad either! We will be back soon and I can't wait to try their deserts. Give this place a try - you'll love it!
Called ahead, made tentative reservation for two, drove from the eastern suburbs, found space to park around corner, loaded meter for two hours, arrived at cafe, door open but no one there. Someone came out after we yelled "hello" and announced they were closed for that meal. They were only open to sell gift certificates. (We can't eat that!) I wish she had said so when I called...we drove a great distance for nothing. Scratch it from my list! Permanently!
i am so sorry you missed getting the chance to eat at iovino's. they are closed on sundays and mondays...you must try it...you are missing out. i went last week with a girlfriend and had their newest addition - the chilean sea bass entree - the best fish have ever had and with such amazing flavor. give it a chance - you'll love it.
Iovino's has become one of my favorite things about living in Mt. Lebanon. The food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented. I would recommend trying the scallops or any of the fresh seafood. The staff is warm and professional and every detail appears to be carefully considered. Iovino's has become a weekly affair for our family since just after the restaurant opened. As a result we have called each week to make reservations. We have never experienced anything other than professional handling of the call, a very warm welcome upon arrival, and a completely satisfying experience.
