If You Ride Public Transportation....

...and you live in Mt. Lebanon (or take the T from here), you should attend the meeting being held next week by the Port Authority to discuss the proposed cuts to some of their routes. Some of the Mt. Lebanon routes will be affected and/or cut if the changes take effect.

This is exactly what happens when the main goal of PAT Transit is to have high paying jobs with benefits and pensions that you cannot find in the free market. Their 2nd goal is transportation.

The Post Gazette has written plenty of articles about this. Why should the P.A. Govt come and save them when they are saying that over 20% of the fees they charge are for retired workers. Not only that, but it will rise to 40% soon.

AND THE AVERAGE RETIREE AGE OF A PAT TRANSIT WORKER IS 58!!!

Must be nice. I guess these people are better than us. Especially the bus driver who makes $93K a year plus benefits. I'd love to have his/her pension when I'm 50.

Buses don't belong on neighborhood streets anyway. Ever notice how many folks are sitting on the bus that passes through Virginia Manor or Woodhaven/Longuevue? I do. It's NADA. And, on top of that, they're speeding. Keep 'em on Washington Road or else we're going to see a terrible tragedy (I fear) soon.
