Group Wants New Commissioners To Stop Deer Culls

After failing to stop a deer-culling program in Mt. Lebanon, a residents group is turning its attention to three commission races. The Coalition for Neighborhood Safety & Awareness hopes to work with commissioners to find nonlethal ways to control the deer population, said co-founder Sandraluz Lara-Cinisomo. Commissioners will be elected in the 1st, 3rd and 5th wards.

And what exactly are these non-lethal methods they propose? No one was hurt, two phone calls, and 25 people actually allowed it to happen on their property. How is this even an issue?

There were 8 deer in my back yard a week after they did their hunt. I got the photo for proof.

This was a difficult issue. Culling the deer was important. As noted, it is not just a flower and bushes issues. It is a safety issue. Good work Mr. Kelly.

What I'd like to know is -- where are the stats from other deer culls around the area/country? Have there been tons of accidents all over the place to warrant such concern for the culls in our town?

The culls are necessary and I applaud the commission and public works for making them happen.

Tranquilize them, gather them all up and send them up north to the state game lands where they can be hunted the right way. What a waste of tax payers money!! What do you do with these deer after you kill them?? Don't tell me you take them to the local butcher and feed them to the poor!! What do you do??? Dig a huge hole in a land fill and put them in?? You call this healthy!! Tell the uppies who moved into Mt. Lebo that are worried about their landscaping to go back where they came from. The deer where here before anybody was!! For all the dog lovers in Mt. Lebanon, I think we should start worrying about what we feed are dogs than waisting money on killing deer!!
