Mt. Lebanon commissioners approved a controversial tax-increment financing plan Monday for a luxury condominium and retail complex.
Commissioners voted 4-1 to give developer Zamagias Properties a $6.1 million tax break for the $42.8 million project at Washington and Bower Hill roads. The Mt. Lebanon School Board approved the plan last month.
"I would really like to see the area developed, but this is a plan I cannot support," said Commissioner Keith Mulvihill, who voted against the tax break. "I don't believe that private developers should receive tax benefits not available to taxpayers."

My Commissioner, Dale Colby, said he voted for the TIF because of the success of tax subsidy to Rolliers and Taiwan.
Seriously, Dale, Taiwan?

In addition to Taiwan and Rolliers (He really did say Taiwan), Mr. Colby talked about Southpointe. The public assistance there has contributed to the sucking sound you hear out of the city of pittsburgh. Another great public policy decision. Subsidies for the new and higher taxes for the old.
Stuck it to the taxpayers again. Remember this at election time.
Unfortunately, you can't remember this vote at election time because some of the people that just voted for this are not running for re-election. The only person that you could affect with your vote is Barbara Logan since she's running for county council.
If somebody had all the campaign literature on each of these officials when they were "candidates", you could probably read how each of them promised to be good stewards of our tax dollars. What's next?
