When the 1999 Major League Baseball draft was approaching, there was speculation Mt. Lebanon's Josh Wilson would be a first-round pick.
The shortstop ended up going in the third round to the Florida Marlins, but in a draft that has been known to last 50 rounds or more, that still signified Wilson, son of Duquesne University coach Mike Wilson, was considered a top prospect.

That's terrific about Josh. I remember him well growing up here in Mt. Lebanon. My sons Tim and Phillip played against him in Pony league. When Josh came up to bat, Tim would move back to the fence and then take a few steps in, that way, if the ball didn't go out of the park, he would be in position to make the play. Josh would work at the batting cages on Cedar Blvd and we often saw him there, whenever we went to hit some balls. His father Mike, always a student of the game, helped train the umpires in Mt. Lebanon and would help the kids with the technical aspects of their play.

Don Kelly is another Lebo graduate (98) trying to make it in the bigs. He has played in 25 games for the Pirates this year, but was outrighted to the minors earlier this week.
