I knew I put enough quarters in the parking meter in Uptown, Mt. Lebanon, to cover my time at a doctor's office there on Friday, Aug. 3.
So I couldn't figure out why two guys on the sidewalk were so anxious to get my attention when my daughter and I returned to my car that hot, steamy morning. "A guy in a huge sports utility vehicle hit your car and took off," one of them said. "We got the license plate and already called the police."

After living in Philadelphia, Washington,D.C and various other places, I am happy to call Mt. Lebanon and the Pittburgh region my home. The people who helped Joyce out on that day is common to my experience of western PA.
We find a car mirror on the ground in front of our shop at least once a month it seems. Generally the damage is caused to big parked SUVs getting sideswiped by other big SUVs driving by and not paying attention.
If you own a wide vehichle, do yourself a favor and turn your mirror inward if parking on Washington Rd.
And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling Mt. Lebonites!

What in the heck do these Mt Lebanonites need these huge SUV's anyway?? I could see if you lived on a farm and needed the room to haul stuff around but in Mt Lebanon it's just not needed. America is the only country in world where the masses can drive around such oversized vehicles!!!
Anyone noticed the streetlight in front of Planet Art? It's been leaning to the left for a week.
i grew up in mt. lebo and still call it home somewhat. while i haven't lived there for almost twenty years (c/o 89), i still call it home.
i live in atlanta where that type of kindness (at least in downtown which is close to my neighborhood) simply does not exist. but then again, neither does parking.
now, i will say, that my neighborhood (kind of point breeze/shadyside like) would not only have called the cops, they would have chased them hit and run person to their demise.
hooray for good people.
