Volunteers and Ideas Wanted

As part of Pittsburgh's 250th birthday celebration, Imagine Pittsburgh! is soliciting proposals for community-driven and community-based civic projects that will be funded by powers-that-be. Here's the website with details. A total of $1 million in grants is available.

Recent Lebo arrival Chris Schultz, who blogs at Green is Good, would love to hear from people interested in assembling a Lebo-based proposal. How about something to make Lebo more bicycle friendly? How about more support for green design and green building? Email Chris at schultzchr@gmail.com. The deadline for proposals is September 14.

Hello everyone. I know the September 14th deadline for proposals is just around the corner, but still think we have enough time to generate some good ideas in addition to the submission requirements, which are:

Regional and Grassroots Project applications must include:

* Cover Sheet

* Complete answers to all Application Questions

o Regional project applications; those focused on generating large-scale community engagement and change, require much more detail and may be up to 6 pages in length, not including attachments.

* Attachments (Budget, timeline & supporting documents)

On October 6, 2007 the Mt. Lebanon School District’s athletic department scheduled the stadium for a band festival at the same time Music for Mt. Lebanon is having a concert for 1500 in the high school auditorium. Volunteers are needed to help everyone park.

Cool. They should open the doors to the high school so that both could get in tune with each other. The bands could start with the melody to "Row, row, row your boat...." and then Music for Mt. Lebanon could chime in five seconds later. I'm going to sit on the tennis courts to get the full effect.
