School Board Questions Value Of IU Computer Network

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is in the process of creating a high- speed computer network that is expected to connect 41 of the county's 42 suburban school districts, but Mt. Lebanon officials aren't sure they want to be part of it.

AIU officials said they are surprised to hear of Mt. Lebanon's reluctance to join the network, called the Region Wide Area Network, and that if the district backs out, it likely will increase the cost to the remaining districts.
