Obama Comes to Mt. Lebanon?

A friend (who will remain unnamed) asked me yesterday whether I know of office space in Mt. Lebanon that might be available as an in-kind donation to the Obama for America campaign. Apparently, Mt. Lebanon is Obama territory, or at least the campaign thinks that it could be.

I don't have any suggestions regarding office space. Do you?

Updated Wed. April 2: My informal understanding is that the Obama campaign will be opening an office shortly in the vacant storefront that is next door to the Municipal Building.

Mt Lebanon is most definitely Obama country! We have a few canvassing events in Mt Lebanon this weekend and we are also having a volunteer training session at Molly B's Monday at 5pm (will start around 5:30ish).

Check here for details.

When I ordered my yard sign & bumper stickerS they went on back order. Everyone in lebo who was in the same situation must have received their stuff in the same frame. Within 24 hours I spied 5 cars sporting stickers..1 on Beverly Road and FOUR all parked in the Va Manor Shops lot at the same time.

By my amateur political junkie surveying skills of local yard sign "saturation" (hardly at this point), Ron Paul was leading with signs up very early (there is your passionate set!), then Obama's popped up with a pretty good clip that continues, around St. Patrick's Day I started spotting a few Hillary yards and I have spotted one lone McCain sign (this will change in general election time no doubt).

For a location, how about the empty Rogers Hardward location in the Lebanon Shops?

In the summer of 2003, former Commissioner Humphreys and his buds borrowed $1,100,000 to renovate the 911 center in the Municipal Building. The dispatch center now sits idle - as we pay the debt service on the $1.1 MM. The Commission told the Community other communities would help pay the mortgage at the time of the bond issue - but they had NO binding commitment from these communities for their $$$$, or the County to keep the dispatch center in operation. Further, to minimize any questions from the public - when the bonds were issued – my recollection is the ordinance was introduced and passed in the same meeting by special procedure.

This is the leadership the Commission wants to bring to the Library. No thanks!

I digress...

Back to the question at hand - - the 911 center is available and could make a great command center for the right candidate.

I will not say which candidate I support but will suggest that housing a number of people to conduct business in Mt Lebanon is fine by me. Bill's suggestion of the old 911 center makes a heck of a lot of sense for this type of operation given that there would have been a tremendous amount of telco infrastucture put in place to support 911 communications.

Any campaign that locates here coould be sure there would be very little time required to turn up any kind of phone or data circuits required and that there would be little telco infrastructure improvement costs.

I'd suggest the same spot if there is a movement to host either a Mccain or Clinton campaign office.

Good suggestion Bill.

Where is the old 911 center?

Anyone out there need an Obama yard sign? Email me at schultzchr@hotmail.com. One of our volunteers in Mt Lebanon has some to give away.

The Municipality called today because several residents have stopped in the Municipal Building looking for the Obama headquarters. The campaign is NOT headquartered in the former 911 center.

This is testament to the importance of blogging responsibly as well as the reach of the Blog. My apologies to any resident who went looking for Mr. Obama's campaign headquarters in the Municipal building.
