Study Shows How Growth May Fit Around T Stations
Dense housing, improved parking and pedestrian-friendly retail shops would sprout around three South Hills T stations under a Transit Revitalization Investment District planning study presented Wednesday night at the Mt. Lebanon Municipal Building.
The study, funded by state grants of $75,000 each to Dormont and Mt. Lebanon, offers potential developers and residents both low- and high-density development concepts.

I was very impressed with the recommendations. While they won't be perfect for everyone, this is a huge project for the area, especially the Mt Lebanon business district, and I don't see how we can afford not to move forward as we are almost out of land for new development in the municipality
Despite some objections last night I don't see much downside. Some citizens said that they were worried about the impact the development would have on the residences on Shady Dr. East. I don't see how putting up townhouses and a mixed use development that basically hides the T and absorbs the sound could be worse than the view they currently have - which is the back of a parking garage.
Also, I had to leave before the end of all of the public comments, anything else I missed?
I wanted to ask if a new station between Dormont Junction and Mt Lebanon station was considered. The development at Washington and Bower Hill road is going to make a huge impact on congestion at that intersection - having a T subway station close to that corner would go a long way to encourage more people who live at that residence to use the T.
I'm sure that PAT (amidst freezing pensions, labor unrest, tunneling under the Allegheny, rising fuel costs, the angst over the drink tax, etc) has a couple of hundred million bucks lying around to throw another T stop up between Lebo and Dormont.
At a presently underground section no less.
