Construction Where?

After recent drives past the Kossman property on Castle Shannon Boulevard as well as the Washington Park property on Washington Road, I've been wondering what's going on with both of these projects since it looks like nothing has been happening for weeks. Anyone care to share what they know about them?

Regarding the Kossman development - could this be our chance to expand the golf course?!

Very good question!! Why not direct your inquiry to the municipal officials who pushed these projects, the commissioners and school board directors who were so anxious to approve the TIF for the Washington Park luxury condos? If any of these elected, or appointed officials read this blog you can bet that they will not respond.

My 4 year old is driven past the Kossman site everyday (to/from the grandparents) and has even noticed the lack of work. She liked seeing the big machines/bulldozers. It's become a daily "joke"---any work today???? Nope not today. It would be funny except for the fact of all the trees taken down. It was a nice green space.

The Kossman project brochure (available on its website) indicates "COMPLETION SCHEDULED FOR SPRING 2008"

The reason for the delay in construction may also be on its website: http://tinyurl.com/Kossman-Park-Plaza

There appears to be too much yellow (available) space to even begin construction.

There was a report that the developer was looking for fill - when it finds tenants it will likely find fill.

I believe that once projects are approved and excavation and building permits are issued, builders/owners & developers have to initiate construction within six (6) months,or they have to start all over again. After ground is broken, the project must be completed within 18 months or so.

Of course, Kossman and Zamagias have been given extension approvals by the municipality for what seem to be unconvincing reasons, and will probably continue to receive extensions for *hangnails*, *the dog ate the homework*, *my 2nd.cousins'great aunt died* kinds of reasons.
