What Do The Green Ribbons Mean?

Some utility poles around Mt. Lebanon now sport green ribbons. Can anyone shed light on their meaning?

I think they are there to protest the big green municipal leaf sucking-upper trucks that are powered by evil internal combustion engines. (Nevermind that the people putting them up probably have at least two cars and a lawn mower.)

As Kermit T. Frog says best, "it's not easy being green".

I was kidding. Doing a quick Google search informs one that they are apparently there to remind drivers to drive safely around school kids. It's kind of like the weatherman reminding us to "bring your umbrella" or the traffic guy on the radio telling us to "watch out for the dreaded 'black ice' in the winter."

Bob is right. I found the following link about Green Ribbon Month in Utah. It would've been nice, however, if the people that put up the ribbons around town actually sent something to the papers or contacted us so we all weren't sitting around guessing!

Sorry to burst your bubbles, kermit. . . The green on green ribbons are from Friends of Robb Hollow Park.

We are a citizens group who are trying to bring awareness to the Robb Hollow Park compost site.

We believe it is not being taken care of properly. A recent meeting at a resident's house with Commissioner John Daley, A representative Matt Smith's office and County Commissioner Vince Gastgeb, along with 50 coalition members discussed ways to resolve the problems.

What are the problems?

The pile is too close to houses (in violation of the DEP regulations); noxious smells; unguarded and unfenced in so children can get in to play; and caught on fire last month among other things.

Please check out our facebook site, "Friends of Robb Hollow Park" for video and written testimony from some of these residents and upcoming events.
