Wow, Somerville Massachusetts is number 16! I wouldn't exactly call Somerville a suburb...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, if you imagine yourself where the photographer took that picture, then back up 50 feet, go to the right 50 feet, and go up 15 feet, you'd be looking out the window of the apartment where Bonnie and I lived just after we were married. At the time the marquee was oriented so that it was edge on from our perspective and you couldn't see what was playing without going outside. A friend from school worked at the theater and I saw more than a few movies from the projection booth.
Come on! What are the author's credentials?
ReplyDeleteI can see Norman, OK as a Lebo comparable - but does anyone in their right mind actually think that Mt. Lebanon, PA is comparable to Santa Monica, CA or even Coral Gables, FL?
Dear God...!
You're right Mr. Kendrick . . . Why on earth would we want a widely circulated travel magazine to say nice things about Mt. Lebanon? For heaven's sake, someone send a letter to the editor of Travel + Leisure and demand a retraction. Better yet Mr. Kendrick, please send them one of your well-crafted letters letting them know how much we just absolutely suck!
ReplyDeleteI don't claim to be as well traveled as some, but I was born in Walnut Creek, CA (a nice suburb of San Francisco), spent a lot of time in San Jose, CA, lived a few years in Arlington, VA, lived a while in Geneva, IL (suburb of Chicago), and lived a while in Monterey, CA.
ReplyDeleteAll of those places had there own uniqueness and would probably be considered "Cool" at some point or another.
However, we left them all in search of a better place to raise the kids and connect with our community. I love what we have found here. Just a block from the T, a block from any kind of restaurant, a few blocks from the school...I think that's pretty cool.
