MLPD Nab 2 Suspects In 13 Copper Thefts

Investigators have captured two men suspected of stealing copper downspouts to fund their drug habits, Mt. Lebanon police said Wednesday.

"Detectives worked with police in other places, checked with scrap dealers and pawn shops to get these suspects," said police Lt. Kenneth M. Truver.

Good work MLPD! MTL is a great place to live - but not perfect and the MLPD works hard to keep residents and visitors safe in their homes, streets and businesses. Thank you!

If you want an eye opener into our little corner of paradise - take a look every now and again at the MTLPD Police Blotter: http://www.mtlebanon.org/index.asp?NID=222

I would echo Bill's comments. My wife and I were robbed while on our honeymoon. I'm sure in most communities the response from the local police would have been, "Tough luck. Call your insurance carrier."

However, much like in the case of the copper bandits, the Lebo police worked with local pawn shops etc and nabbed the guy. It would have been easy for them to direct their efforts on more pressing police work and I never would have thought any worse because of it. Instead, they solved my case and continue to crack cases like it.

I think the MLPD has made it pretty clear that there's no career in crime in Lebo.
