Students Push Board To Renovate High School
Danielle Smit and Maggie Blehar, both 17, said they were looking out for future generations of Mt. Lebanon students when they appealed to the school board Monday to continue with its plans to either significantly renovate the current high school or build a new one.
"We don't want anyone else to have to go through what we've had to go through," Danielle said. The high school senior said a leaking roof means that every time it rains the books in her locker get wet.

If the roof leaks, let's fix the roof. If the heating and cooling needs to be replaced, let's replace it. If the pipes need to be replaced, well let's replace them. Doing just that will incurr a fraction of the costs of any of the 'officially sanctioned' proposals currently under consideration.
I agree with Uli completely. That's what many of us have been saying for some time. There are some members of the school board who are actually willing to listen to reason. Others feel the need to blindly succomb to pressure by teachers who just want a nicer place to work and parents who want to keep up with the Jones'. This is not the proper time in the economy to begin borrowing for the largest capital improvement project we have ever undertaken. Anyone who has lost a job or a 401k in the last several months should agree. Unfortunately, most people cannot see past the shiny new building to see bottom line on their tax bills.
