Board Finds Compromise For High School Project

From the moment that options for either renovating or building a new high school in Mt. Lebanon were unveiled last summer, there has been talk by school directors and community members of finding a middle ground between minimal renovation and a completely new building.

It appears that middle ground was found at Monday's school board meeting when the board voted to authorize its architects, Celli-Flynn Brennan, to move ahead with schematic drawings of the alternative that has become known as Option 2.

That option calls for a project that would include 67 percent new construction and 33 percent renovation. It would provide a new academic wing and sports facilities, a renovated auditorium and fine arts theater and would retain the original Building B that preservationists have lobbied to keep.

"Build Our School Now" flip-flopped.
My message has been consistent during the entire process. Is "Build Our School Now" going to change their name on the IRS form 990 filing?

It's true that Build Our School Now advocated the construction of a new school. We were shown a set of facts and costs. Given these realities, we determined that the most efficient and responsible course of action was to build a new structure.

The facts changed. The costs changed. They are still changing. Given the new realities we believe backing a hybrid option is the best way forward.

We are still "Build Our School Now." There are many decisions yet to be made. This project could very easily be delayed or derailed. BOSN is committed to seeing that the project moves a head efficiently, effectively, expeditiously, and economically.

BOSN is an advocacy group only.

OK Rob,

The Board passed a FAKE Option 2 motion and Silhol denied we are going to referendum when I addressed the Board; so $20,000,000 had already been cut.

Oh! Your architect designed to a $ figure. That is Option 4. We thought nobody wanted that.
