'Design' Committee Still Hot Issue In Mt. Lebanon
Over the past several weeks, the Mt. Lebanon school board has discussed creating a community advisory committee to "proofread" the design and design process for the high school renovation project.
It's been a contentious issue, with some school board members and residents questioning the need for and appropriateness of creating another committee to talk about plans that have been under discussion for years.

School Board passes motion to form Community Advisory Committee
At tonight's School Board Meeting, reconvened from the regular board meeting of 19 October 2009, the board passed a motion to create the much-discussed Community Advisory Committee. No other business was discussed at the meeting, which lasted about an hour.
The meeting started with a statement by Board president Silhol in which he summarized the motion and answered some common questions about the proposed Committee. Then a few residents spoke about the formation of the Committee, some against it, some for it. Then the board discussed the motion. The discussion was mostly civil and straightforward, lasting about half an hour. After changing the motion's wording slightly (the Committee's size was increased from 9 to 11 members), the board voted, and the motion passed (5 to 3, I believe).
Cheers,
Tom
