The Almanac: Lebo harriers runners-up in classic

Mt. Lebanon earned runner-up laurels in both the girls' and the boys' competition during the Red, White & Blue Classic held at Schenley Park.

Jillian Hunsberger and Seamus Roddy finished fourth overall, covering the 3.1-mile cross country course in 18:30 and 16:06 respectively.

Morgantown won the girls' Division A championship with 67 points while the Lebo ladies notched a 75 team score.

Julie Kocjancic and Audrey Gordon placed in the top 10 for the Blue Devils. Kocjancic secured sixth place with an 18:47 time while Gordon was eighth in 19:04.

The Almanac: Mt. Lebanon leads list of qualifiers

Mt. Lebanon led the charge of area runners during the WPIAL cross country championships held at Coopers Lake campground. The boys as well as the girls took home the runner-up trophies in the Class AAA division.

In Class AA, the South Fayette girls finished fourth and qualified for the PIAA championships set for Saturday, Nov. 6 in Hershey.

Despite rainy, muddy and cold conditions, which veteran coaches claimed to be the worst they had experienced, the Lebo ladies persevered.

The Almanac: Lebo dominates Central Catholic meet

Despite dreary and damp conditions, Mt. Lebanon dominated the Central Catholic Invitational held on the cross country course in Schenley Park.

Paced by Alex Moran and Kevin Tramaglini, the Lebo lads dashed off with the first-place trophy in Division A. The Blue Devils racked up 54 points while second-place Chambersburg followed with 107.

The Almanac: ML's Moran shines at Red, White & Blue Classic

When it comes to cross country running, Alex Moran of Mt. Lebanon lives by the motto: no guts, no glory.

Gifted with adequate speed, the senior knows he must muscle his way to top finishes against the talented harriers in this region, including Baldwin's Andrew Kuchta and North Allegheny's Logan Steiner.

The Almanac: Mt. Lebanon boys rule course

The Mt. Lebanon boys won the A Division team title during the Red, White and Blue Classic held at Schenley Park. Alex Moran led the way, finishing runner-up but winning the A division with a 15:30 time.

Lawton Tellin placed in the Top 10 with a 16:04 time. Another senior, Kevin Tramaglini, took 16th with a 16:13 mark. Juniors Scott Westover, Seamus Roddy, Jack Walsh and Tony Consiglio contributed to the team's score.

PG South: Young runners show promise for Mt. Lebanon

A fifth-place finish at a big cross country invitational usually isn't deserving of anything more than a "good job" from a coach. But Mt. Lebanon High School's boys' coach Mike Agostinella heaped praise on his team for doing just that Saturday.

The Mt. Lebanon boys finished fifth overall in the team competition at the Red, White & Blue Invitational at Schenley Park. No big deal, right?

A closer look at the results reveals why Agostinella was pleased.
